Beloved Author
My favorite author, Dame Hilary Mantel, talking about Thomas Cromwell and Thomas More at the Frick where both of their famous Hans Holbein the Junior portraits are housed.
The talk made me laugh out loud many times and it highlights why I consider Hilary Mantel a genius.
On the needles currently
The latest item on my needles, is PetiteKnits' Cloud Sweater. It has a yoke construction I've never seen before. The yoke is intimidating for anyone not having tried this before but it magically comes together with some rather brilliant techniques. It was not hard, one must just pay close attention. I found it stimulating and I had the whole yoke done within a day and a half.
Interestingly, the pattern indicates this is a top-down, in-the-round constructed sweater but I say, it's a half flat-knit, half in-the-round sweater as the large and entire yoke is knit flat.
This sweater forced me to finally relax my purl stitches. That's owing to there having been so many purl stitches and thus, my mind finally realized that I might as well just relax and get to it without a death grip on the working yarn as it passed by, stitch by stitch. Let me know if you knit it and what you thought.
